Our Story

64 years ago River of the Valley launched as a church to serve the West San Fernando Valley and impact the world with the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Our vision is to be an epicenter of reconciliation:
Seeing people connect back to God, to each other, and to God’s created purposes for their lives.

We believe this is only possible by cultivating Jesus-followers who live His love.

What Does It Mean to Be a Part of River?

Connect – Commit – Confess – Commission

CONNECT to God and Others

Your first step is to simply experience the River community by coming to events, worship gatherings, or a Life Fellowship Group.

In these settings you’ll find tangible and authentic ways we connect with God and others.

COMMIT to Begin Learning & Practicing Jesus' Teaching

Your second step comes when you are moved to make a formal commitment to begin learning and practicing all that Jesus taught. Go be the change this world needs!

Let us know you’re taking this step so we can equip you and pray for you! You can tell us by filling out one of our Spiritual Journey cards.

CONFESS - Belief in Jesus as THE Lord and Savior

Your third step comes when God moves you to believe in Jesus and his teachings–specifically that he is THE Lord and Savior.

You take this step with any of River’s many leaders whenever you are prepared to say in prayer with them: “Jesus, you are THE Lord and Savior.”

COMMISSION - Hear Jesus' ask to bring others to this River

Jesus teaches us to baptize people whenever they confess him Lord and Savior. At an upcoming gathering of River you will be baptized and the church will party!

This is also your “commissioning” to share this River with others so that they encounter Jesus as Lord and Savior.
